Your adventure begins the moment you depart for our lodge from Regal Air on Lake Hood, the largest seaplane base in the world. They will fly you into the wilderness just south of the Alaska Range (about 70 miles northwest of Anchorage by air).
As you fly towards our lodge your view out the front window will be none other than Denali (Mt. McKinley), North America's highest mountain. Your pilot will bring you down on the Deshka River where we will meet you and take you further into the wilderness by boat to our lodge 15 miles up the Deshka River. Once you arrive you will be greeted by wonderful accommodations and great hospitality. In business for over 30 years, the Goodnews River Lodge is the only full service fishing lodge on the Goodnews River. The lodge is located in a remote corner of southwestern Alaska, 475 miles from Anchorage, on the edge of the pristine Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. Here you will find outstanding fishing for all 5 species of pacific Salmon, resident Rainbow Trout, Grayling, and sea run Dolly Varden. We access more than 400 miles of fishable water in all three branches of the river via a fleet of high speed jet boats.
Situated just above tidewater in the lower section of the main river, guests stay in high tech elevated Weatherport tent/cabins. There are 6 bathrooms, each with hot showers, sinks and toilets. There is a heated drying room to so gear stays dry and ready for the next day's fishing. Gourmet meals are served in our dining and recreational facility. With capacity limited to only 16 guests per week, there is very little fishing pressure. This is wilderness Alaska as it should be.
